The eternal question. Shall I use cashews or not? A lot of raw foodists do use them, even if they are not actually raw. As many of us use nutritional yeast. Your choice, if you want to be 100 percent raw, or giving yourself a little bit of freedom. So now you ask. Are there any online shops that sell raw cashew nuts? If not, why? If yes, then why not all raw foodists buy the real raw ones? Good question. First of all we have to ask how come heating is required. Mostly when you see “raw cashews” on the label, it simply means that they have not been toasted, or roasted. But still heated during the shelling process. Heating is required to remove the toxic shell, (this contains anacardic acid) that can cause skin rashes, dermatitis, eczema and can be toxic when ingested. In some countries, like Indonesia, they actually separate the shell without using heat, so these nuts are really raw and you can purchase them if you feel like to. Make sure it's a certified raw product. Macadamia nuts for example do not have this problem. So if you want to stay 100 % raw, maybe it's better you buy macadamia nuts orpine nuts rather than real raw cashew nuts. Your choice. Noone knows better what's best for you. Important is to be informed and then make your decisions. Hope this was helpful. :-)
